The home office has a 'wine theme', with purples and reds, so the purple 'gourd' shape of the bottom of the lamp was a perfect choice. The nightlight inside the purple gourd at the bottom is perfect for accenting a dark corner, and the fuzzy feeling of the gourd is kinda cool too! The lamp itself, I put a CFL in the top, 10 watt... it can hold up to 40 watt. It is nice and bright. For an added accent of my own, I tied a small cluster of red grapes to the gourd's neck using a white ribbon. Really dressed up an already cool-looking lamp. Great price, wonderful packaging (no fears of anything being broken), and very fast shipment. I highly recommend if you want a different sort of accent lighting. This would be great for a small kitchen nook or a kid's room, too.
