The best thing about this lamp is the picture you see here. There is clearly a quality control problem with this product somewhere between the Dale Tiffany design studio and the factory where they are built. The actual lamp I received is a disappointing, inferior product.
Our lamp arrived with numerous whitish patchy flaws, which are clearly seen against the dark patina. These are not surface material or flakes which might possibly be removed from the patina by brushing. Rather, they are flaws in the patina which expose the whitish base material below.
The reddish teardrop "jewels" on the base are set with overly large dabs of glue which has squezed out far enough to be exposed and visable along the edge. This glue must be heat pliable. The first time the lamp was turned on, these "jewels" quickly loosened and fell off from the heat of the recommended 60w bulbs.
I leave the lampshade for last. It is a thing of lumionous beauty. The color and form are just as you see advertised here. Unfortunately, those glorious dragonflys ride above a spotty, unsightly base.
If you are attracted to the Tiffany name and the interesting designs of these lamps, I strongly recommend you purchase them from a retail dealer where you can examine the lamp before purchase. Otherwise, you may be sadly disappointed.
