The starship is sturdy and level, and the lava is very active for a small lamp-- after a little less than an hour to warm up, the lava moves constantly. The lava appears orange/yellow at the bottom of the lamp and turns red as it floats up and away from the light; against the purple liquid, this makes for a great light show. The cord has a convenient on/off switch too.
