(More customer reviews)This is a very nice little lamp. It's modern looking, and the materials are quality. It even came packaged with one of the new energy saving light bulbs. I gave it 4 stars, because from looking at the pictures on amazon and the Home Decorators Collection website, it looks like it's base is made of dark bronze. It's base is actually ceramic, painted with a dark bronze brown color. You can see the white ceramic showing through in brush marks. It is a dark brown, but is no where near the almost black-brown look it has online. I'm still very satisfied with my purchased, and I can live with it not being as dark. If needed, I figure I could always just repaint the base. I like the overall shape and size of the lamp, perfect for my bedside table.
