This lamp has a fabulous arts & crafts design. However, the lampshade is NOT real or natural mica, it is some kind of plastic immitation. The resin base would be fine except the made-in-China (i'm guessing here) painted highlights in gold (yuck) on it was done by someone who had to be under 8 years old. No paint-between the lines experience to be had here. The paint is on the little round shape on the base. It could have been comletely omitted. I have not decided yet whether or not to keep it.
