(More customer reviews)This seemed like a great little lamp for reading in bed: no electricity, no batteries. Unfortunately, it's not great; it's just barely okay.
Pros
- Bright light
- No batteries
- Nice long flexible arm
- Big strong clip
Problems
- It needs to be charged after less than an hour
- You have to take it apart into three pieces to charge it
- It charges best if you put it in a window on its little stand, which is too wide for most standard windowsills
- Another option for putting it in a window is to stick two suction cups to the window in the exact configuration that will let you hang the panel from their little hooks, but the result of that tedious process is invariably that the suction cups let loose and the whole thing crashes to the floor
- Before it runs out of battery, it blinks on and off, very slowly, for half an hour or so. If that's supposed to be the "I'm dying signal," it's not a good one: it comes too early and goes on too long. Remember what I said about the charge barely lasting an hour? This means it thinks it's dead after barely half an hour. Also, if I need a lamp, there's probably no sun, so what am I going to do about it anyhow?
In short, this thing needs a redesign. It takes ten minutes of messing with it for every 20 minutes you can actually spend using it as a light.
