It's ideal that she can put it on or off by touching not only the base of the lamp but surprisingly, any metal on the lamp or lampshade. This is great. It came in pieces and although I was a bit intimidated, I was able to put it together with no problem. I was a bit disappointed that the cat scene, that appeared pinkish on the website, was totally cream color. Oh well. And why did they have to write the name of the company in black on each glass panel where you can see it? I was surprised that the lamp came with the 3 chandelier-type bulbs and a little perplexed that they are half the height of any bulbs of this wattage (25w) they sell. I intend to contact the company and find out if I can replace them with regular-sized 25w bulbs. There might be something tricky about this since it's a touch lamp. There are fire warnings on the lamp. And I'm not sure it is UL listed. It throws a lot of shadows so don't buy this for a reading lamp - it's nice for ambiance and perfect for a senior to put on and off with arthritic fingers. And it's a pretty lamp.
